Littleton Real Estate

Welcome to Littleton, Colorado! Located in a natural basin that sits alongside the Platte River and is adjacent to both Denver and Jefferson Counties, Littleton is the county seat of Arapahoe County. Although Littleton real estate is located a mere 10 miles from the bustling City of Denver, homes here offer a more relaxed pace of life.

Littleton's origins are traced back to the Pike's Peak gold rush of 1859, when many came to seek their fortunes. Merchants and farmers alike followed the gold-seekers to provide the amenities and necessities of life, and the community began to take shape.

Many realized the beauty of the area and the favorable climate, and the region's population soon began to grow. Because water in the land was restricted to a few rivers, a system was required to transport water to farms and businesses. One of the engineers involved in the project was Richard Little. Upon realizing the beauty and value of Littleton real estate and the favorable climate, the Littles settled in the area and gave Littleton its name. The Denver and Rio Grande railroad reached the area in 1871, which further increased the settlement and development of Littleton, Colorado.

Agriculture remained the mainstay of the region until the mid-1900s, when the aerospace and manufacturing industries became more popular and ignited the housing market boom. The addition of the Arapahoe Community College and the Chatfield Reservoir further enhanced the appeal of the housing market. Today, Littleton is the 17th most populous city in the state of Colorado, and Littleton real estate and Littleton homes for sale remain in high demand.

The climate is a significant contributor to the attractiveness of Littleton real estate. The combination of moderate temperatures and low humidity levels provide a comfortable environment, virtually year-round. The average high temperature is 65 degrees and the average low is 36 degrees, shattering the misconception that all of Colorado is cold and snowy for most of the year.

Because the majority of the available land that constitutes Littleton real estate has been developed, this provides a stable market for Littleton homes as well as a fairly stable population. Littleton foreclosure properties are also popular with those seeking a relaxed and sociable new place to call home.
